Call for Trainer for the Project “Digital Youth Work & Digital Youth Dependency”

The Institute of Research and Training on European Affairs – I.R.T.E.A., is organizing the project “Digital Youth Work and Digital Youth Dependency”, an Erasmus + Youth Workers Project KA153, funded under the Hellenic National Agency, INEDIVIM. The project seeks to enhance the youth workers’ digital skillset and capabilities, offering them new tools to utilize in their line of work. In addition, it will explore the topic of youth’s dependency on digital means, the dangers of addiction and how to combat it with the help of innovative methods. In this framework, I.R.T.E.A. is looking for 1 Trainer, experienced in the project’s topics and in the training of youth workers.


The project will take place from May 8th to May 15th 2023 in Chania, Greece.


The travel and accommodation expenses will be covered by the participating organization.
The Exchange will be attended by young participants from Italy, Romania, Poland and Lithuania, while the working language will be English.


A few words about the Organizer: The Institute of Research & Training on European Affairs- I.R.T.E.A. was created by specialized youth workers and experts and aims at becoming a strong Think Tank in Greece and South Europe, while bridging the gap between youth, policy making, society and labour market. With its consultative status to the European Parliament and policy making role at the European Institutions, I.R.T.E.A., aims to support young people, especially those who face a series of barriers, such as social and economic obstacles, and the Greek society in general.


Major goal of the organisation is to promote innovative actions and policies on European issues, structured and open dialogue between the civil society and EU officials and to foster civic engagement, youth active participation and European citizenship through its projects and activities.


Description of the project:
This Exchange aims to enhance the participating Youth Workers’ level of knowledge on Digital Youth Work, its efficiency in the post-COVID era and its many benefits for their professional lives. It also seeks to examine the topic of youth’s addiction to technology, and how youth work can offer a viable solution to this issue.


The exchange will include sessions where policies, strategies and practices will be presented and analyzed in order to help the participants increases their levels of comprehension.
Moreover, it offers many opportunities for Youth Workers to network on an international environment!
Group size: 45 participants in total from 5 EU countries (Italy, Romania, Poland, Greece, Lithuania) + 2 Facilitators.


The project utilizes many methods of non-formal learning in order to successfully achieve its goals. More specifically, all workshops are being carried out in groups, using an interactive and participatory approach that enhances the team spirit and enables participants to constructively express themselves. The sessions are built on practices like round tables, non- formal discussions and outdoor activities since they support the friendly atmosphere within the group. In addition, the project uses quizzes, polls and peer-learning, further encouraging the educational process through direct, interpersonal interaction.


The Trainer of the project is expected, in cooperation with other Facilitators and key staff of the organization to:

  1. Engage into and lead the preparatory meeting 1 week before the mobility.
    The participating Youth Workers will have to participate in the preparatory phase of the project, by attending an online 2-hours meeting hosted by the hosting organization. They will also contribute feedback about the activities to be implemented.
  2. Develop the methodology and run the training activities mentioned on the Schedule of the Activity.
  3. Coordinate the main deliverable of the activity, the e-Booklet.
    As a result of the activities, the participants will produce an e-Booklet containing practices tied to the use of digital tools in modern youth work. After the project, they will help disseminate the booklet to a wider audience.
  4. Engage into and lead the Follow-up meeting: The participants will take part in a follow-up meeting, where they will talk about what they gained from the project.
  5. Participate in the evaluation and reporting of the activity and produced results.
    For the implementation of this activity, we seek to engage 1 Trainer specialized in Digital Youth Work, with proven experience in similar type of activities targeting to Youth Workers or other projects involving Youth Workers and youth in general, under Erasmus+.
    Profile of the Trainer:
  • You should have enough knowledge about the essence of Erasmus+: Youth, in particular Youth Exchanges and Mobility of Youth Workers.
  • You have to have experience in designing and running international activities for youth workers through non-formal education methodologies, and collaboration in international teams.
  • You have to show the link to your own digital youth work experience and your relevance with the topic sustainability.
  • You have to be able to communicate well in English.
  • You should have experience with collecting results from activities and promoting them in relevant ways and channels.

Selection procedure:
You will primarily be assessed based on how you fit the profile and on the quality of your offer. Diversity in gender, age and nationalities in the team will be the next priority.


Candidates who are eligible to go to the next phase of this call, will be requested to have an online interview between 13-17 March 2023, being also informed about the offered payment, the timetable of the activity, etc. Once selected, the Youth Worker is expected to prepare and provide methodology and content of the activity the latest until 15 April 2023.
