Το Ινστιτούτο Έρευνας και Κατάρτισης Ευρωπαϊκών Θεμάτων, άνοιξε τις πόρτες του στην τέταρτη κατά σειρά προσομοίωση του Ευρωπαϊκού Κοινοβουλίου (EURO.PA.S) καλωσορίζοντας όλους τους συμμετέχοντες σε αυτόν τον επιτυχημένο θεσμό. Η συμμετοχή φέτος ξεπέρασε τους 300 συμμετέχοντες φοιτητές από Πανεπιστήμια όλης της χώρας, αλλά και του εξωτερικού, όπως ενδεικτικά το Πανεπιστήμιο Πειραιά, Πάντειο Πανεπιστήμιο, Οικονομικό Πανεπιστήμιο Αθηνών, Πανεπιστήμιο Μακεδονίας, Αριστοτέλειο Πανεπιστήμιο, Δημοκρίτειο Πανεπιστήμιο Θράκης, Ιόνιο Πανεπιστήμιο, Πανεπιστήμιο Αιγαίου, Πανεπιστήμιο Πελοποννήσου, Εθνικό Καποδιστριακό Πανεπιστήμιο Αθηνών, το Τεχνολογικό Πανεπιστήμιο της Αθήνας, το Πανεπιστήμιο της Πάτρας, το Κολλέγιο Deree, Πανεπιστήμιο Queen Mary Λονδίνου, Πανεπιστήμιο Κρήτης, City University of Seattle, Πανεπιστήμιο Ουτρέχτης, το Καθολικό Πανεπιστήμιο Leuvenτου Βελγίου, το Istek Acibadem Lisesi, το University of Granada, το Sorbonne University και το Istanbul Bilgi University.
Φοιτητές σε ρόλο ευρωβουλευτών, αρχηγών κρατών και δημοσιογράφων. Η Προσομοίωση του Ευρωπαϊκού Κοινοβουλίου – European Parliament Simulation (εν συντομία: Euro.Pa.S.) διοργανώνεται για τέταρτη συνεχή χρονιά από το Ινστιτούτο Έρευνας και Κατάρτισης Ευρωπαϊκών Θεμάτων (www.irtea.gr), έναν φορέα που δημιουργήθηκε από νέους επιστήμονες για φοιτητές.
Με συμμετοχή 300 ατόμων, φέτος το Euro.Pa.S. (www.europas.irtea.gr) έλαβε χώρα από την Παρασκευή 26/4/13 έως και την Δευτέρα 29/4/13 στους χώρους του Γαλλικού Ινστιτούτου Αθηνών και του Πανεπιστημίου Πειραιώς. Η διοργάνωση τελεί υπό την αιγίδα της Γενικής Γραμματείας Νέας Γενιάς και τη στηρίζουν το Γραφείο του Ευρωπαϊκού Κοινοβουλίου στην Αθήνα, η Αντιπροσωπεία της Ευρωπαϊκής Επιτροπής στην Ελλάδα, το Πανεπιστήμιο Πειραιώς και το Γαλλικό Ινστιτούτο στην Αθήνα.
Μεταξύ άλλων, στην εναρκτήρια τελετή παρευρέθησαν και ομίλησαν:
ο Ιρλανδός πρέσβης στην Αθήνα, κ. Charles Sheehan και ο κ. Μούσσης, οι οποίοι και βραβεύτηκαν για τη συνεισφορά τους στο ευρωπαϊκό ιδεώδες. Επίσης, από το Ευρωπαϊκό Κοινοβούλιο μίλησαν:
– ο ευρωβουλευτής του Ευρωπαϊκού Λαϊκού Κόμματος, Γιώργος Κουμουτσάκος
– ο ευρωβουλευτής των Οικολόγων Πρασίνων, Νίκος Χρυσόγελος,
– ο ευρωβουλευτής της Ομάδας των Φιλελευθέρων και Δημοκρατών για την Ευρώπη, Θόδωρος Σκυλακάκης
Ενώ σημαντικό χαιρετισμό είχε αποστείλει ο Πρόεδρος του Ευρωπαϊκού Κοινοβουλίου κ.Martin Schulz.
Από την πλευρά τον θεσμικών οργάνων χαιρετισμό απεύθυναν η κ. Σοκόλη, εκπρόσωπος της Ευρωπαϊκής Επιτροπής στην Ελλάδα, ο κ. Καϊλής, Αναπληρωτής επικεφαλής του Ευρωπαϊκού Κοινοβουλίου στην Ελλάδα, η κ. Cobacho, επικεφαλής του Γαλλικού Ινστιτούτου στον τομέα της εκπαιδευτικής συνεργασίας και ο Πρόεδρος του ευρωπαϊκού φόρουμ νεολαίας ο κ. Peter Matjašič.
Η αναπαράσταση του Euro.Pa.S. στοχεύει στο να εξοικειώσει φοιτητές και μεταπτυχιακούς φοιτητές με τα θεσμικά όργανα της Ευρωπαϊκής Ένωσης, να ενδυναμώσει τη διαπραγματευτική τους ικανότητα και να τούς δείξει εκ των έσω τον τρόπο λειτουργίας και λήψης αποφάσεων καθώς και να αναδείξει εκείνους που κατέχουν καλά τα θέματα της Ε.Ε. Για πρώτη χρονιά φέτος συμπεριλαμβάνεται και προσομοίωση του Ευρωπαϊκού Συμβουλίου. Κάθε συμμετέχων έχει αναλάβει να εκπροσωπήσει έναν συγκεκριμένο ευρωβουλευτή ή αρχηγό κράτους ή κυβέρνησης, μελετώντας τις θέσεις και τοποθετήσεις του, στις επιτροπές Εξωτερικών Υποθέσεων (AFET), Άμυνας και Ασφάλειας (SEDE), Οικονομικών (ECON), Διεθνούς Εμπορίου (INTA), Ανθρωπίνων Δικαιωμάτων (DROI, η μόνη που διεξάγεται στα γαλλικά) και Βιομηχανίας, Έρευνας & Ενέργειας (ITRE). Εκτός από ρόλο πολιτικού, ορισμένοι φοιτητές έχουν αναλάβει δημοσιογραφικό ρόλο, καλύπτοντας τις εργασίες του Euro.Pa.S. και εκδίδοντας εφημερίδα κατά τις ημέρες της διεξαγωγής, αλλά και με ρόλο μεταφραστή των επισήμων κειμένων από αγγλικά σε γαλλικά και της μετάφρασης της εφημερίδας.
Επίσης άξιο αναφοράς είναι η συνεργασία του Ινστιτούτου Έρευνας & Κατάρτισης Ευρωπαϊκών Θεμάτων με τον κ. Χρυσόγελο και το Γαλλικό Ινστιτούτο, αφού στηρίζοντας τους νέους ηγέτες και διπλωμάτες που αναδείχτηκαν μέσα από το συνέδριο τους εξασφαλίζουμε ταξίδι στις Βρυξέλλες και επίσκεψη στο Ευρωπαϊκό Κοινοβούλιο, ενώ για τον καλύτερο “ευρωβουλευτή” της Γαλλικής επιτροπής υπάρχει και το επιπλέον ταξίδι στο Παρίσι, όπου θα ασχοληθεί επί 15 ημέρες με την Γαλλοφωνία και την πολυγλωσσία στην Ευρώπη.
Τέλος, στον τόπο διεξαγωγής των συνεδριάσεων υπήρχαν ενημερωτικά περίπτερα του Γραφείου Ευρωπαϊκού Κοινοβουλίου στην Ελλάδα, της Αντιπροσωπείας της Ευρωπαϊκής Επιτροπής στην Ελλάδα, της Europe Direct Αθήνας, του Κυττάρου Εναλλακτικών Αναζητήσεων Νέων, του Ιδρύματος Κρατικών Υποτροφιών, της Praksis, της Πλατώ και της Ελληνικής Πλατφόρμας.The Institute of Research and Training on European Affairs opened its doors to the 4th consecutive simulation of the European Parliament (EURO.PA.S) welcoming all the participants to this successful institution. This year’s participation exceeded the number of 300 participating students from universities across the country, but also abroad. The participants were representing universities such as the University of Piraeus, the Panteion University, the Athens University of Economics and Business, the University of Macedonia, the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, the University of Thrace, the Ionian University, the University of Peloponnese, the National and Kapodestrian University of Athens, the Technological Educational Institute of Athens, the University of Patras, the Deree College, the Queen Mary University of London, the University of Crete, the City University of Seattle, the Utrecht University, the Katholieke Universiteit Leuven, the Istek Acibadem Lisesi, the University of Granada, the Sorbonne University and the Istanbul Bilgi University.
Students in the role of MEPs, Heads of States and journalists. The Simulation of the European Parliament (in brief EURO.PA.S) is organized for the fourth consecutive year by the Institute of Research and Training on European Affairs (www.irtea.gr), a body created by young scientists for students.
With the participation of 300 people, this year’s EURO.PA.S (www.europas.irtea.gr) was held from Friday 26/4/2013 until Monday 29/4/2013 on the premises of the French Institute of Athens and of the University of Piraeus. The event is held under the auspices of the General Secretariat for Youth and it is supported by the European Parliament Office in Greece, the Representation of the European Commission in Greece, the University of Piraeus and the French Institute of Athens.
Among others, the opening ceremony was attended by the Irish Ambassador in Athens, Mr. Charles Sheehan, and Mr. Moussis, who were honoured for their contribution to the European ideal. Moreover, speeches were given by:
– Mr. Koumoutsakos, MEP of the European People’s Party
– Mr. Nikos Chrysogelos, MEP of the Ecologist Greens
– Mr. Skilakakis, MEP of the Alliance of Liberals and Democrats for Europe
In addition, the President of the European Parliament, Mr. Martin Schultz, sent an important message.
Welcome speeches were also given by Mrs. Sokoli, representative of the European Commission in Greece, Mr. Kailis, Deputy Head of the European Parliament in Greece, Mrs. Cobacho, Head of the French Institute in the field of educational cooperation and Mr. Peter Matjašič, the President of the European Youth Forum.
The European Parliament Simulation aims to familiarize undergraduate and graduate students with the institutions of the European Union, to strengthen their negotiating ability and to show them from the inside how these institutions function and how decisions are made, as well as to showcase those ones who possess a better knowledge on the E.U. issues. For the first time this year, simulation of the European Council is also included. Each participant has undertaken to represent a specific MEP or a Head of State or Government, studying his/her positions in the committees of Foreign Affairs (AFET), Security and Defence (SEDE), Economic and Monetary Affairs (ECON), International Trade (INTA), Human Rights (DROI, the only one conducted in French) and Industry, Research and Energy (ITRE). Besides the role of MEP, some students participate as journalists, covering the EURO.PA.S sessions and publishing a newspaper during the conference, and others as translators, undertaking the translation of the official texts from English into French as well as the newspaper’s translation.
Furthermore, noteworthy is the cooperation of the Institute of Research and Training on European Affairs with Mr. Chrysogelos and the French Institute. This cooperation supports the young leaders and diplomats who emerged from the conference by providing them with a trip to Brussels and a visit to the European Parliament, while for the best “MEP” of the French committee there is an additional trip to Paris, during which the winner deals for 15 days with “La Francophonie” and multilingualism in Europe.
Finally, on the premises of the University of Piraeus, during the conference sessions, there were information kiosks of the European Parliament Office in Greece, the Representation of the European Commission in Greece, the Europe Direct of Athens, the Cell of Alternative Youth Activities, the State Scholarships Foundation, Praksis, Plateau and the Greek Platform..
