PRESS RELEASE – Migrant Youth Friendly Cities

The Institute of Research & Training on European Affairs – I.R.T.E.A. participates in the project “Migrant Youth Friendly Cities”, which is funded by the ERASMUS+ under Key Action 2 for Youth.

The project will last for 24 months and is led by DYPALL Network (Portugal) in partnership with the following:

-Municipality of Fyli (Greece)

-African Empowerment Centre (Sweden)

-Novisi Elkartea (Spain)

The project aim is to exchange practices and create sustainable tools and guidelines, which will be used by municipalities to evaluate their local integration strategies and make them more efficient for young migrants, young refugees and young people with migrant backgrounds. Under the project, the consortium will develop and test 3 tangible outcomes:

  • Publication on models and strategies of integration at local level – Intellectual Output 1
  • Assessment Tool “Migrant Youth Friendly City” – Intellectual Output 2
  • Guidelines for a “Migrant Youth Friendly City” – Intellectual Output 3

More specifically, I.R.T.E.A. is responsible for the coordination of the First Intellectual Output the publication on models and strategies of integration at local level.

In this, the partners using data from surveys, interviews and focus groups, will map the situation at a local and national level regarding the topic, highlight the good practices their countries uses, as well as identify the various factors that affect the “friendliness” of a city to young migrants.
