Europe Direct Xanthi, wishes to give an opportunity to young people with a particular interest in the European Union and the operation of its Institution. So, it provides for 3rd year, 5 scholarships for students from the Democritus University of Thrace, in order to participate in the EUropa.S. Simulation of European Instruments (www.europas.irtea.gr).
The Institute of Research & Training on European Affairs – I.R.T.E.A. organized for the 8th consecutive year the most successful simulation of European institutions in the Balkans, EUropa.S. 2017. At the same time, the simulation is supported by the European Parliament Office in Athens, the Representation of the European Commission in Greece, the Dean of the School of Economics, Business and International Studies of the University of Piraeus, the French Institute in Athens, the British Council, the European Information Center in Crete, the European Information Center of Xanthi, the European Information Center of Thessaloniki, as well as, by a number of public and private entities. The European Commissioner for Education, Culture, Youth and Sport, Mr.T.Navracsics, is the main supporter of the action, for one more year.
EUropa.S, this year, will be held on 7-10th April 2017 in the of the University of Piraeus, by I.R.T.E.A.
The “family” of the institution, has accumulated more than 2,100 participating students in the last seven years. At the same time, it highlights and rewards the best participants in order to encourage their academic development.
By the end of the EUropa.S. 2017, participants will have the opportunity to specialize and gain valuable experience in negotiating within an environment of conflicting interests. At the same time, they will learn about the European Institutions and their way of functioning, through active participation in the whole simulation process.
Working language: English and French (for the DROI Commission)
Certificates will be provided to every participant.
The scholarships cover the cost of participation fee (€45). The payment of the scholarship will be made directly from Europe Direct Xanthi, to the organizers of the Simulation.
The selection of the “scholars” will become by drawn, through the radio broadcast called “Time of Europe”, by the executives of Europe Direct Xanthi and is presented by the frequency of the Municipal Radio of Xanthi (http://radio899.gr).
Those interested in the scholarship should complete the relevant online form by 28.2.2017.
On 2.3.2017 the draw will take place, and the winners will be informed.

All Democritus students, are able to participate in the draw, as long as they have applied for participation in the EUropa.S. Simulation and have already paid the participation fee. The fee will be refunded to the winners of the draw, by the organizers.
The scholars will work together and act as correspondents of Europe Direct Xanthi, by making a photographic reportage, writing an article about their participation in the event and presenting their experience in the radio broadcast “Time of Europe”.
