Leader: Drums for Peace Network (http://www.drumsforpeace-network.org/)

Aim of the project: build a strong network of professionals who carry-out participatory-arts international youth exchanges and similar national activities, all based on the non-formal education.

Our methodology: we want to share with our new partners the methodology we have been working with for the last 20 years now, and which our 2 latest extensive researches have proven that it can have a great impact on the personal and social development of the teenagers and young adults we have worked with so far. In our projects, we use dance, music (song writing or improvisation), percussion, different type of theater (Community, Forum, Shadow Theater), circus, visual arts, in workshops led by professional artists who are very good at supporting and understanding the youth’s needs and behavior. After 3-4 days of workshop, our youngsters together with the artists put on a show, performing in front of a public audience that can be attending in a public square, sport hall, schools, youth centers and the like. The whole process is very effective, as it helps the young participants grow their self-confidence, get rid of shyness, understand other cultures, speak better English, get to know their own self better, understand how they can use arts later in their lives, as relaxation hobbies or even in a professional way.
